About Hong Kong Primary Schools Olympiad in Informatics (https://hkoi.org) –
“Hong Kong Primary Schools Olympiad in Informatics (HKPSOI) is an annual programming competition for primary students in Hong Kong, aiming to promote computer science, STEM knowledge and computational thinking to students as early as in primary school. The competition is organized by the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE), Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics Organizing Committee (HKOI) and Modern Educational Research Society Limited (MERS), co-organized by Active Learning Solutions Limited (ALS) and sponsored by Tin Ka Ping Foundation.”

Course Outline
  1. Introduction to AI: Overview of artificial intelligence, its history, and real-world examples to spark interest and curiosity.
  2. Understanding algorithms: Simple explanation of algorithms and their role in AI, using puzzles and games to illustrate concepts.
  3. AI in everyday life: Exploration of AI applications, such as voice assistants, image recognition, and recommendation systems, to show the relevance of AI.
  4. Hands-on programming: Introduction to visual programming environments and coding basics, with a focus on creating AI-based projects.
  5. Responsible AI use: Discussion of ethical considerations, including fairness, privacy, and safety, to raise awareness about responsible AI development and use.
  6. Project showcase: Students present their AI projects, sharing their experiences and learning outcomes with peers and instructors.
  7. Future of AI: Wrap-up session to inspire students about the possibilities and potential of AI, and encourage further learning and exploration in the field.


Course Content
  1. Level 1 – AI Fundamentals and Computer Basics: Introduce children to the world of artificial intelligence and basic computer functionalities, ensuring a strong foundation for future learning.
  2. Level 2 – Visual Programming and Simple AI Algorithms: Familiarize students with visual programming environments and teach them simple AI algorithms through engaging activities and projects.
  3. Level 3 – AI Applications and Creative Problem Solving: Explore various AI applications in daily life and encourage creative problem solving by presenting age-appropriate challenges and puzzles.
  4. Level 4 – Hands-on AI Projects and Collaboration: Guide students in creating their own AI projects, promoting teamwork and fostering collaboration as they learn from peers and instructors.
  5. Level 5 – Introduction to Text-based Coding and Advanced Algorithms: Transition to text-based coding, while introducing more advanced AI algorithms and concepts, building on the knowledge gained in previous levels.
  6. Level 6 – Ethical AI, Project Showcase, and Next Steps: Discuss ethical considerations in AI development, provide opportunities for students to present their projects, and inspire further learning by exploring the future of AI and potential career paths.

Main Tutors
Edwin Sir (主任導師) –
畢業於香港城市大學電腦學系,獲榮譽電腦科學學位;後於中港及北美洲 (包括美國加州矽谷) 多間跨國企業從事電腦程式開發、系統分析、管理及技術支援等職位。Edwin Sir 同時有豐富的教育及培訓經驗,曾擔任香港城市大學電腦學系、資訊系統學系講師、並曾任教中學電腦及數學科。
Gideon Sir –
曾當選香港十大傑出學生,畢業於加州大學栢克箂分校 (UC Berkeley),主修電子工程及電腦科學 (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science),並曾於美國矽谷軟件公司擔任資深軟件工程師 (Senior Software Engineer)。
David Sir –
畢業於加拿大University of Regina,主修電腦科,曾在加拿大亞省政府、香港恆基兆業等機構從事電腦軟件系統開發。David Sir亦曾在香港雇員再培訓局(ERB)任職講師。

Ms Wong –

香港城市大學工程系,熱愛兒童及教育事業,特別精通Java, Python, 及 C++。

Ms Leung –

城市大學電子工程系,熟悉多種編程語言,已教授多屆相關兒童課程,曾在歐洲從事電腦技術工作。
Samuel Sir –
畢業於香港科技大學數學系,曾於不同英文中學任教數學及資訊科技科,有十多年教授數學科及資訊科技科經驗。
Anson Sir –
香港理工大學統計學(B.Sc.),電子及訊息工程高級文憑,豐富教學經驗。
William Sir –
香港理工大學資訊科技學系,曾在全球科學比賽獲優異獎。在本中心已教授多屆兒童電腦編程課程,精通多種電腦及編程科技,擁有豐富的教育及培訓經驗。
Kelvin Sir –
電子及訊息工程碩士(M.Sc.), 系統工程師,豐富電腦科教育經驗,熟悉C++, C, Python, Java, C# 等編程語言。
